Would you rather bathe a cat?

Caregivers, would you rather assist this cat or your loved one with bathing? If you picked the cat, this post is for you.

Bathing is one of our most private activities of daily living. What about you? Would you like some help with your next shower?

I sure don't want to be naked for the world to see, having someone putting their hands "down there." I would feel humiliated.

I can't see any reason why our loved ones would want that either.

There are things we can do to help, though, and it starts with understanding the reasons for resistance, both emotional and dementia-related: the central question is how we can make our loved ones comfortable and give them back as much control as possible.

(Here's a simple pro-tip: make sure you let them test the temperature of the water themselves before they get in.)

I'd like to ask a favor. I just produced a "microlearning" class on bathing, and I'm hoping for some feedback from you since it's the first one I've created.

Microlearning is designed to give you a fast blast of useful information: it shouldn't take more than 5 minutes to get some great pro tips.

I hope you'll take a look and send me your thoughts on messenger or in the comments. Do you like the format? The presentation?

You'll help me shape future training in the way that works best for you, and it's professional-grade information that I'm putting out there for free. It's a great opportunity for both of us!

I'm looking forward to hearing what you think!

As a special bonus, you'll find out which truly bizarre #16 Billboard Hot 100 hit from 1970 might give you an edge when helping the person you care about! You will definitely never guess what it is, but if it doesn't make you smile, I'll refund 100% of the $0 you paid for the course!
